Membership in the Sisters of the Valley Ministry is open to anyone who shares our commitment to the people, the planet, and the principles that guide our work. Membership does not require becoming a Sister, taking vows, or living in community. It begins simply with an understanding of our beliefs and an affirmation that you stand with them.

Eight Core Beliefs

1.     We organize our lives to be attuned with the natural rhythm of life forces marked by the phases of the Moon and the seasonal Quarters and Cross Quarters

2.     We recognize that our human intelligence gives us a unique responsibility toward our environment, and we seek to live in harmony with nature.

3.     We acknowledge a depth of power far greater than what our eyes can see and a connectedness between the people and the planet.  We believe that the hurt of one is the hurt of all; the honor of one is the honor of all.

4.     We recognized both the outer worlds and inner, the Spiritual World and the physical world and see in the interaction of these two dimensions the basis for paranormal phenomena and magical exercises.  Beguines neglect neither dimension for the other, seeing both as necessary for our fulfillment.

5.     We seek to control the forces within ourselves in order to live wisely and without harm to others — and in harmony with nature.  This is also an essential ingredient of life among the ancestors of the Native people.

6.     We concern ourselves with the past, present, and the future, which means, we revere the ancestors that have gone before us, we tread gently upon Mother Earth, in reverence for its current occupants and for the generations to come.

7.      We believe it is necessary to fight the forces of evil who seek power through the suffering of others.

8.      We believe in treating all people and their spiritual beliefs with respect, with the exception of those who claim to be the only way or otherwise deny freedom to others.
