Occupying New Land
Before the first Sister-farm in America was purchased, Sister Kate checked the history of the land to make sure no blood was spilled here. She purchased as ‘near virgin’ land as is possible in these parts. No animals were caged or slaughtered here, no one was ever hurt here, and in that first year of occupation, the first enclave made a big upset in the place by putting a digger in the ground and splitting a line through the property diagonally to lay electricity for lighting. A special healing ceremony was required, to repent for the cut made in the land. The split in the land upset the energies of the property and made people who love each other quarrel and bicker.
The media has made the claim that the Sisterhood’s holy trinity is the cannabis plant, which is a ridiculous notion considering one thing can’t be a trinity.
Because the media people needed a trinity, we gave them two: The Sister’s holy trinity is service, activism, and spirituality. We would not do our Activism, if it required blood or harm to anyone. Burning fuel to get to our events is harm enough, and we pray for forgiveness and try to double up. We yearn for solar powered cars, but what we have in these early days are fossil-fuel-burning carriages.
We approach our activism and perform our activism with pure hearts, good intentions, and would not go where dark forces gather. The intention of our activism is to inform, educate, elucidate, shed light where darkness larks.
We are in service to the people through agriculture, which allows us to work in a space of ‘doing no harm’. We ask ourselves daily, how would our ancient mothers do things, if they had the internet and mass transit made the world their village?
We are attempting to walk a fine path between the modern world and ancient custom.
We strive to create a safe and solemn place to work and seek refuge for the soul, during these very turbulent times.
